Dr James Jansson, 31, is the Leader of the Science Party. James Jansson grew up in Sydney’s west as the eldest of 6 children in a poor family. He studied mathematics and later teaching at the University of Sydney. He did a short stint teaching in a disadvantaged school in western Sydney. Since then, James has completed his PhD in mathematical modelling of HIV disease progression and epidemiology. He is currently running a startup called Tapview that provides micropayments for individual news articles.
Eve Slavich joins James on the senate ticket. She is an eco-statistician who is currently undertaking a PhD at UNSW, investigating the effect of climate change on biodiversity using statistical modelling.
